Bio
I've been in the industry for over 25 years.
Constantly challenging traditional methods with faster more nimble ways, I build businesses and content for future-minded companies and brands. I do this through a deep understanding of what makes us human, formed through life experience, a curious mind and constantly analysis and learning.
I seem to be able commercialise creative ideas and have that 'what if?' mindset that can, when clients are brave, change the game.
Read on and you will get a run down of what I've done, but at the end of the day... I get it, and that's what is important.
The rest are just skills, attributes and achievements.
I studied Graphic Design back in 1993 & fell into Production. I morphed into a Creative Producer and became a Creator & Business Manager.
My client list is a "who's who" across most sectors;
Lloyds, Natwest, Mastercard, Westpac, Guinness, Tiger, Coca-Cola, Pringles, Tesco, Sainsbury's, British Airways, Emirates, O2, T-Mobile, Unilever, Nestle, BMW, Land Rover, Nissan, Microsoft, HP, Adobe, Nokia, Universal Studios Lastminute.com, GSK, Novartis, Cartier, Tiffany's, Panerai. You get the idea!
I've transformed multiple businesses at various levels throughout my career. Increasing profitability, efficiencies and changing mindsets wherever I go.
My Creative work has helped various campaigns win most of the major Advertising and Marketing awards in Australia and the U.K. including Cannes, Caples, Echo's and more. I also had a bit of fun winning the "The Pitch" on Gruen.
I've worked with multiple hubs in Asia and improved their process and output. I am no stranger to outsourcing, where suitable and done well, it's a valuable option.
Currently charged with transforming the DAN production house offering, the first of it’s kind in the APAC region. With Singapore as the blue print, to then be implemented across the Region in 9 countries. A rebranding, complete overhaul of strategy, mindset & approach led to diversification of product, and external business growth. Rolled out across the region, my method & approach to operations and growth has now been embraced globally. I am currently running the Singapore HQ & APAC, driving external & internal New Business and Creative.
At Havas Singapore I was across the agency and with a heavy focus on GSK. I changed the strategic focus of the account and drove Creative, Digital & Platform Innovation.
My last stint in Australia was freelance Producing, getting back to my roots, I helped Semcom, a POS agency through a busy period. Managed all APAC Production at Spark 44 for Jaguar and Land Rover, did some great creative work at Host and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Had a contract helping out at Sibling on Westfield, completing 7 shoots in 4 weeks. Had a blast as Producer with L.A. based TV Production Company AMVI on a TVC for Sprite, with Director John O’Hagan, represented by Ridley Scott and Associates.
At DDB I had a 3 month contract that rolled into a 7 month stint on the Westpac account. This was a senior business level Account Service role. Working closely with Westpac’s Agency Management Team, I was charged with all aspects of Governance and Operational Excellence, creating the strategy for, and executing, a 10% Efficiency Program which saw me negotiate close to $8million worth of 3rd party spend on behalf of Westpac.
I also managed all of the Westpac financial reporting, helped establish improvements on retainer management and general operational improvements for the DDB Group (ATL, BTL and Retail) across all departments in the Sydney and Melbourne offices.
MercerBell also reached out, for a complete overhaul of their agency processes, another 7 month tour of duty, involving the building of an intranet using the CMS, Claromentis, I wrote, populated and launched the program. After completing a successful roll out and training program I left them in a very good place to carry on with their progressive changes.
At Wunderman, I was instrumental in making them the fastest growing WPP office in Australia taking the agency from 25 to 70 people and increasing margin from 12% to 24%. We were also listed as the most creative agency within Wunderman's 186 offices. We obtained local clients including Coca-Cola, Pringles and Schick, changing the business spilt from 95% Global / 5% Local, to 50% Global / 50% Local accounts. As a result Wunderman was ranked as the 4th highest ranked standalone digital/direct agency in Australia.
Wunderman Australia was named Digital Agency of the Year in the APAC region at the Digital Asia Festival 2012.
A first across all offices in the network, and brought a major client the title of Digital Brand of the Year.
Wunderman Sydney had also been shortlisted as Australian DM Agency of the Year four times in a row, receiving a rare ‘Highly Commended’ in 2010.
Prior to this I had been living and working in London. Whilst there I opened my own company, Knead. What I learnt was invaluable, my commercial knowledge went though the roof. I worked with clients directly and held the Lastminute.com account, 4th largest travel company in the UK. I produced all their outdoor and worked closely with their agency Farm. I formed partnerships with smaller agencies that didn't have full time production, and did Full Service Advertising for my clients directly. I also consulted at Naked and set up their Creative offering, taking them from a Strategy agency to a Full Service Creative Agency.
I worked with some great people, Roger Kennedy (Head of Copy in Europe for Saatchi and Saatchi), Michael Peters (OBE for Design and Marketing and a true gentleman), and Guy Ritchie (Cockney Geezer and Film Director).
Prior I was at Smarter, an above the line agency. Here I restructured how work flowed through their agency and how they billed clients. I ensured they had longevity as a company and a healthy margin, they reaped the benefits.
At Tullo Marshall Warren, the largest independent data driven agency in Europe I was taken on as a Production Manager and quickly promoted to Senior Production Manager. There I changed the way the department worked and trained those around me to make it operate with efficiency. I also took their Digital arm and turned it from a service that broke even to making a healthy profit. I got to work on some great clients and won a Gold Lion.
MercerBell in Sydney was where I honed my skills to the Agency environment, I learned all about DM Production and was also charged with over hauling their Traffic system.
News Corp. gave me my first opportunity. It was there I helped develop Quickcut. My potential was quickly recognised and I was the youngest manager in the Australian operation at the time, attending weekly meetings with the likes of John Hartigan and Lachlan Murdoch. The MD at the time, Jerry Harris, placed me in the London office where I stayed for another 2 years.
